    Description

This souvenir program from the Mayan Theatre, L.A., March 17, 1944, is for

The All Star All Colored Revue
    ” “SWEET ‘N HOT”
with Dorothy Dandridge. The program measures 8-1/2 by 11” tall and is 16 pages long, including cover. It is in good condition, showing wear from age and handling, oxidation on the staples, and some light rippling. There is a line of writing on the inside first page along the spine noting the date and theatre. The show starred a large cast starring a young Dorothy Dandridge with Leonard Reed, Mabel Scott, Edith Wilson, and others. There are many photos with brief bios of the cast, and of the dance ensembles. Put on by the Southern California Producing Company it was quite a spectacular and wonderful show. This program is a rare piece of African American theatre history. See the pics. PayPal only. No international shipping.
Note: Langston Hughes is listed as one of the writers for Additional Lyrics.
