    Description

My father took a leave from the army in the spring of 1944 and with my mother, they toured Hollywood and she kept the souvenir programs of their visit to the famous "Blackouts of 1944" program by Ken Murray at the El Capitan Theater.  The program is full of great ads for businesses and for other entertainment venues including something called "Sweet and Hot" at the Mayan Theater which featured an "All Colored Cast" highlighted by Dorothy Dandridge.  Evidently my folks visited the Mayan because there is a separate program from that location in this group.  There are also two post cards featuring some great looking ladies from the Earl Carroll Theater, also noted by my  mother to document the time and place.  Finally, there are two actual tickets that had for that show in 1944, a really great homefront grouping.
